I went to conferences, scheduled meetings and tech pulls, and procured resources others told me were impossible to justify or acquire. In 2022, my theme was "Find way." I focused on overcoming obstacles at work and at home by any means possible, and not giving up too early. These are things that you can definitively evaluate at the end of the year, but can never be 'hopelessly behind' on schedule. Examples: "Eat healthier", "Exercise more", "Focus on learning", "Improve mental health". Something that can never be "done", but you can never be "behind" on. If you don't feel like you've made enough progress by a certain date, you will abandon the effort altogether.Ģ: Reword your resolution as a 'theme'. Studies have shown that anything that can be tracked or shown progress will likely not work out. Examples: "Lose 20 pounds", "Get a six pack", "Read 20 books", "Run 5 miles", etc. Here's how to fix it in 2 steps:ġ: Avoid using measurable, objective metrics. New Year's Resolutions almost never work out.
